Happy Mothers day to all the mamas out there! On a day that honors women, this seems like the perfect opportunity to talk about The Moment of Lift.⁣

⁣Part memoir and part feminist manifesto, Melinda Gates uses her platform to stress the importance of lifting up women and girls around the world in order to ensure a productive, just and prosperous society.⁣

⁣Rather than rely purely on data, Gates travels extensively to underprivileged nations and speaks directly with the women in the communities her foundation, The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, seeks to aid. Oftentimes hearing their stories firsthand changes her perspective and reshapes the narrative reflected in the data. In the book, she discusses the most pressing issues standing in the way of gender equality - things like access to birth control, family planning, child marriage, and education.

⁣✨ “If you want to lift up humanity, empower women. It is the most comprehensive, pervasive, high-leverage investment you can make in human beings.” ✨⁣⁣

⁣I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, as it's both enlightening and inspiring.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4 out of 5 stars).⁣
