The Immortalists by Chloe Benjamin
Book Review
If someone could tell you the date of your death, would you want to know?
If this question intrigues you, you should consider reading The Immortalists. The book starts off in the late 1960s when the four young Gold siblings visit a traveling psychic who predicts the date of each of their deaths. Armed with the knowledge of when their lives will supposedly end, the four siblings set off on four very different life paths. Each of their stories, which are divided into different sections of the book and take place across several decades, explores the question of fate vs. free-will in a unique way.
I found the premise of this book incredibly fascinating; however, I felt a couple sections dragged on a bit, as some of the siblings were far more interesting to me than others. Nevertheless, overall it was an easy and mostly enjoyable fiction read.
