Are you a fan of family dramas? If so, this one’s for you!

Thank you Celadon Books for my gifted advanced copy of We Are the Brennans - publication date: August, 3rd.

If you want to snag your own free copy of the book prior to its official release date, I left a finished copy (along with some other goodies 😎) in a Little Free Library in Santa Monica (hint: near the Santa Monica swim center).

The book begins with Sunday, the only girl in the family of boys, crashing her car in a drunk driving accident. After she is rushed to a Los Angeles hospital, her brother, Denny, receives a phone call altering him of her predicament. Denny flies out to LA and convinces Sunday to return home to New York after living in LA largely-estranged from her family the past five years. Upon her return, she is forced to reckon with her past demons as her family’s livelihood is threatened by a series of long-kept secrets.

Each chapter of We Are The Brennans is told from the perspective of one of the family members or their loved-ones. Though the story started off a bit slow for me, I ended up quite enjoying it. I found the family dynamics between the characters quite entertaining and I appreciated the references to the family’s Irish heritage throughout the book. I also enjoyed the love-triangle storyline between Sunday and her ex-finance, Kale, and his new wife. I did find a few scenes a touch over-dramatic, but overall, it was a fast and pleasant read.

I wouldn’t mind being a part of the Brennan clan, as they all have their quirks and love each other fiercely… not to mention, they own the hottest Irish pub in town.

⭐️⭐️⭐️💫/5
