More Than Enough by Elaine Welteroth

Book Review

On the other side of fear is freedom - but you have to be willing to look it in the face.”⁣

⁣I absolutely love this quote from Elaine Welteroth’s memoir, More Than Enough. I’m so glad Bad Bitch Book Club chose this for our September read, because I doubt I would have come across it on my own. Elaine is such an inspiring woman and her memoir contains so many words of wisdom.

⁣Although I felt the book started off a little slow, I loved reading about Elaine climbing the ranks of the publishing industry and working her way up at Condé Nast to ultimately become the Editor in Chief of Teen Vogue (at just 29 years old, no less!). While at Teen Vogue, Elaine was essential in reshaping the magazine into one that valued diversity and covered real issues. As a biracial woman, Elaine dives deep into what her identity means to her as well as the difficulties associated with “not being Black enough” and “not being white enough”.

⁣The book is technically a memoir, but it contains so many kernels of wisdom, I think it could also be classified as a self-help book. If you enjoy reading about badass boss ladies, this book is for you.
