ME by Elton John
Book Review
There is no question that Elton John has led an extraordinary life. So perhaps it should come as no surprise that his autobiography reads more like fiction.
In Me, Elton John shares all the private details of his life - from growing up as Reginald Dwight in a suburb of London to discovering his musical talent, meeting his songwriting partner, questioning his sexuality, navigating stardom, falling in love, facing betrayal, battling addiction, attempting suicide, getting sober, becoming a father and everything in between.
Through his retelling of events, we come across plenty of other famous faces - including Princess Diana, Freddie Mercury, John Lennon and Lady Gaga. I particularly enjoyed the anecdote about Richard Gere and Sylvester Stallone fighting over Princess Diana ☺️.
The book also allows the reader a glimpse at the music icon’s current life beyond the stage - as a family man, philanthropist and advocate for the LGBTQ community.
If you’re a fan of memoirs, music and/or celebrity gossip, this is a must-read.
