✨”Let’s invite one another in. Maybe then we can begin to fear less, to make fewer wrong assumptions, to let go of the biases and stereotypes that unnecessarily divide us. Maybe we can better embrace the ways we are the same. It’s not about being perfect… There’s power in allowing yourself to be known and heard, in owning your unique story, in using your authentic voice. And there’s grace in being willing to know and hear others.”✨

⁣I read Michelle Obama’s memoir when it first came out, but last night I watched the Becoming documentary on Netflix (which I highly recommend!) and it reminded me of how much I loved the book.

⁣Becoming details the events that have shaped Michelle Obama’s life - from her childhood growing up on the South Side of Chicago to attending Princeton and Harvard as a young ambitious woman to becoming a lawyer and falling in love with Barack and finally, to becoming the first lady, raising children and learning to live her life with the entire world watching.⁣

⁣It’s impossible not to admire a woman who fights so fiercely for what she believes in. I was lucky enough to see her speak live when she came to Austin on her book tour last year and it was so inspiring to see firsthand how she is able to bring together people from all different backgrounds and walks of life. Not only is she a powerful speaker and roll model, but she has a way of inspiring hope even in the darkest of times. 💕⁣
