August 2022 Wrap Up

✨AUGUST WRAP UP✨

Here’s a quick recap of the eight fiction books I read in August…

✨THE NIGHT SHIFT: A sci-fi novel about a series of “shortcuts” scattered across NYC and the lost young woman who finds her life turned upside down upon discovering them.

✨THE FORCE OF SUCH BEAUTY: An impactful contemporary fiction novel that explores the lives of modern-day princesses through the perspective of a fictional athlete-turned princess.

✨WHEN WE WERE BRIGHT AND BEAUTIFUL: A legal / domestic thriller about a wealthy New York family whose son is accused and put on trial for rape.

✨THE MEASURE: A speculative fiction novel that explores society’s reaction to a mysterious phenomenon that accurately predicts the length of a person’s life.

✨OLGA DIES DREAMING: Starring an ambitious Latinx wedding planner who dabbles in some questionable practices, this contemporary fiction novel takes the reader on a journey through one Puerto Rican family’s complicated history & legacy.

✨TAKE MY HAND: This devastating historical fiction novel exposes the real-life atrocities committed against poor BIPOC women at the hands of government-backed healthcare centers in the 60s and 70s.

✨SLEEPWALK: A strange futuristic novel about a mercenary’s life off the grid and the complications he stumbles into when his biological daughter tracks him down.

✨CARRIE SOTO IS BACK: The latest from Taylor Jenkins Reid, this character-driven novel follows a washed-up tennis star as she returns from retirement and attempts to claw her way back up to the top.

My favorite book this month was The Force of Such Beauty (check out my book feature from last week for more details on this one!). I also really enjoyed Olga Dies Dreaming and The Measure on audio.
